Split in woods

Posted in Fynd/Finds, skrot/junk on juni 17, 2014 by 50split

This is a odd story, but true!

Me and a friend were out searching for junk last autumn, and we found a beaten split pan, sittin in the woods, were there´s been a junkyard decades ago. Later on that trip we stopped at a barn, were my friend knew there had been a beetle some winters ago.

We checked in that barn, but, no car…. The sun started to fall, and we were heading home, when I turn back from the barn to our car, I see something lighted up in the woods, bu the low standing sun…

A split body!!! WTF! Find a beaten  pan, and a beaten shell, split era, the same day! weird!

What happen next is quite odd to. Got a PM from an old friend, saying he bought the shell…. How is that possible….. He´found out about that car same time era as I did…. He knew the owners and got the deal done! Congratz!! Hope it will get a new life some day!

My new barndoor – tractor

Posted in Allmänt/ General, Barndoor 1951, Dagens bild/ Picture of the day, Fynd/Finds, skrot/junk on juni 2, 2014 by 50split

The latest toy in my collection is this barndoor chassis from ca 1951. This showed up at swedish forum, Boxerville. It was put up by a ”new guy” and did not say much, he´d find it in a barn ”as is” and sold it ”as is” to best offer. My ”Alice”  barndoor misses all what would be chassis, and this would be grate as donor to Alice. This one is build as a ”epatraktor” = tractor made by cars or trucks back in the days, around the second world war, and the time after that. The epa is a shorted car, often w-o cabin area.   I don´t think this was done as a epatraktor, due to the linkage to the shifter was not ready to use, and the ”shifterpipe” was broke. So, I needed to swap that part in the gearbox nose, and put in a engine. The electrical system was og BD, so I needed to change that to a new, safe wires. The gasoline tank was just an old 5 liter can, and, old and rusty, so for safety I swaped that too. Then it was time for a test drive. Me and my father towed it, and, yes, it started!! Nice times! This weekend is a ”show n shine” for old things, like mopeds, cars, and tractors, so I will bring it to that show.

Now some pictures:

That´s all for now! Stay tuned, for more crazy things!
